She also opened up about losing her father at a young age and how that painful experience shaped the person she has become today.Dia Mirza on losing her father at a young ageIn a conversation with Times Entertainment on the latest episode of 'Not Done Yet', Dia opened up about losing both her biological father and stepfather at a relatively young age. “I think when you see death early in life and when you recognise the futility of the pursuit of just the material and how it really doesn’t get you anything.
Because when you see your parent dead, and all you see is their corpse, they take nothing with them.
All they leave behind are the feelings that you have in your heart and the memories you created with them.
That defines a lot of your choices and I think it did for me.
I was 23 when I lost Abba (father).
I was 9 when I lost my biological father.
Those two very strong instances, life’s greatest realities, changed a lot for me,” she said.
Dia Mirza on how Vaibhav Rekhi involved Samaira early in their relationshipSamaira is Vaibhav Rekhi's daughter from his first marriage.
When asked how Vaibhav helped nurture the bond between Dia and Samaira, she said, “I think the first and the most important thing he did was that he involved her very early in the relationship.
He basically allowed her to take the lead in deciding whether this is something that she wanted, if it was the life she wanted, whether she wanted us to be a family or not.
I think that was very important.
If Samaira had rejected me in those early days, if I felt there was a strong friction, I would have never gone ahead with the relationship in the way we went ahead with it.
Her acceptance was key”.Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi's love storyDia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi exchanged vows in February 2021 and welcomed their son Avyaan Azaad Rekhi in May that year.
