Wednesday marked Britain’s hottest June day on record, with a provisional 35.7C breaking the benchmark set in 1976.
The Met Office confirmed the Charlwood, Surrey high surpassed 35.6C, set in 1976 and 1957.
Much of England and Wales has sweltered in hot, humid conditions, prompting a rare Met Office red warning.
