Iran and Oman announced a move to deepen cooperation over navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most strategically important waterways. Oman's Foreign Ministry announced that Muscat and Tehran have agreed to establish a joint working group to discuss the future management of navigation through the vital shipping corridor. In a statement, Oman said it was working with the International Maritime Organization to provide a temporary maritime transit corridor aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation and supporting global trade. The Strait of Hormuz serves as a critical route for international energy shipments, with a substantial portion of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas passing through the narrow waterway. The announcement came after Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in Muscat.
