    Thiruvananthapuram: Kattakada police on Saturday arrested two habitual offenders, including an accused in a Pocso case, for allegedly assaulting a KSRTC bus driver following a road rage incident at Thoongampara.The accused are Ajin Kumar and Umesh, both residents of Thoongampara.

    Police said Kumar is an accused in an attempt-to-murder case and a case registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.

    Umesh too has a history of criminal offences and was previously booked under Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (Kaapa).

    He is also included in police’s rowdy list.The incident took place on Friday when the accused allegedly blocked the path of a KSRTC bus plying on Kattakada-Neyyattinkara route with an autorickshaw, claiming that the vehicle failed to give way on the road, police said.The two men then boarded the bus and picked up a quarrel with the driver.

    They allegedly abused and physically assaulted him in front of passengers, creating panic in the vehicle, police said.Based on the driver’s complaint, Kattakada police registered a case and took the accused into custody from Thoongampara.

    After recording their arrest and completing legal procedures, they were produced in court on Saturday.Further investigation is under way to ascertain whether others were involved in the incident, police said.Stay updated with the latest Thiruvananthapuram news.
