Twist in Abu Dhabi NEET row: NTA says choice made via aspirant’s login

NAGPUR/NEW DELHI: National Testing Agency rebutted the allegation that a NEET aspirant from Nagpur was allotted an examination centre in Abu Dhabi, even as the family of 18-year-old Abdullah Abu Talib stuck to their charge against the examination agency.Education ministry officials criticised leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi for amplifying the episode hours before the test without first verifying the facts, saying his intervention could add to candidates’ anxiety.Faced with criticism, NTA, which allotted Ajni Kendriya Vidyalaya to Talib, said its “records establish that the choice of Abu Dhabi was made by the applicant himself using the registered login.

It was previewed twice using the same login.”Talib’s family contestedthe claim. “Our application still reflects Nagpur, Bhandara and Wardha as preferred examination cities.

My son doesn’t even have a passport, why should we even think of Abu Dhabi.

We have records of the submitted form that clearly show these choices to negate NTA’s claim.

The change in centre was made on Saturday.”NTA claimed it observed that on three occasions — the centre was changed to Abu Dhabi using candidate’s credentials, and twice it was previewed that the centre is Abu Dhabi.

Despite that, NTA accepted the NEET aspirant’s request and changed the centre. An NTA source confirmed to TOI that “it has conducted an extensive investigation on the claim and that it was found that the changes were made through Airtel connection and from the Nagpur location of the candidate.

However, we allowed a change of the centre to Nagpur even after that so that the candidate’s interest is safeguarded.

However, such instances will be investigated further post the retest.”According to NTA, web-activity records showed a consistent single-user access pattern. After rescheduling of NEET-UG 2026 to June 21, NTA reopened the examination-city correction window to assist candidates. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Nagpur | Silver Rate in Nagpur | Bank Holidays in Nagpur | Public Holidays in Nagpur | Petrol Price in Nagpur | Diesel Price in Nagpur | CNG Price in Nagpur | LPG Price in NagpurStay updated with the latest Nagpur news.
