Trump’s unusual primary strategy pays off with South Carolina win

Donald Trump celebrated a victory in the South Carolina Republican gubernatorial primary after his endorsed candidate, Alan Wilson, won the runoff election.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson defeated Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette, securing 68 percent of the vote to Evette's 31 percent.

Trump had initially endorsed Evette in late May, praising her as an 'America First Patriot' ahead of the first primary.

Days before the runoff, Trump made the unusual move of endorsing both Evette and Wilson, stating he 'can't hurt one of them by only Endorsing the other.'

This dual endorsement allowed Trump to claim credit for the win regardless of the outcome, following recent losses by his preferred candidates in other gubernatorial primaries.
