Trinamool Congress Rebels Claim Party HQ Shift in EC Documents

Kolkata: In documents submitted the office of the Bengal CEO on Tuesday, Trinamool rebel MLAs, who claim their camp to be the “real Trinamool” have informed the Election Commission that the party’s central office is located on Rajdanga Road, not at Kalighat.Since the party’s inception, the address of the Trinamool Congress headquarters has been 30B, Harish Chatterjee Street, the residence of party chairperson Mamata Banerjee.“A delegation of Trinamool Congress MLAs met Bengal CEO Neelam Meena on Tuesday and submitted documents, including the names of office-bearers and members of the newly constituted 30-member national working committee, along with the minutes of Monday’s meeting.

The documents also stated that the party’s central office is located at Rajdanga Road, Kasba,” a Commission official said, adding that the documents have been sent to the EC headquarters in Delhi.Submissions by Mamata loyalists and the Ritabrata-Banerjee led rebel bloc have intensified the struggle for organisational control of the party.

Last week, Mamata Banerjee revised the composition of the national committee, dropping several leaders, identifying herself as the chairperson of the Trinamool Congress and retaining Abhishek Banerjee as the party’s national general secretary before forwarding the updated list to the EC.In response, the rebel camp convened a “special session” of the party and appointed Arup Roy as chairman of the party.According to sources, the rebel camp has already sought an appointment with the EC and said its netas would visit the Nirvachan Sadan in Delhi as soon as a meeting is scheduled.

The dissident group plans to submit details of the national working committee constituted at a meeting held on Monday and argue that it enjoys both legislative and organisational majority within the party to claim recognition as the legitimate Trinamool Congress, sources added. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Kolkata | Silver Rate in Kolkata | Bank Holidays in Kolkata | Public Holidays in Kolkata | Kolkata AQI | Weather in Kolkata | Petrol Price in Kolkata | Diesel Price in Kolkata | CNG Price in Kolkata | LPG Price in KolkataStay updated with the latest Kolkata news.
