Tottenham move step closer to signing £85m-rated star

Tottenham Hotspur have engaged in positive discussions with West Ham United regarding the potential £85m transfer of midfielder Mateus Fernandes, aiming to secure his signature ahead of Manchester United.

Spurs are actively pursuing Fernandes to strengthen their squad under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is a significant admirer of the 21-year-old Portuguese player.

West Ham, who were relegated last month, are demanding a substantial upfront payment as part of any agreement, while Tottenham have presented a more attractive overall financial package, including a higher wage offer to Fernandes.

Mateus Fernandes is very keen on making the move to Tottenham, indicating a strong personal preference for the North London club.
