TIRUPATI: Tirupati district police wing successfully cracked a highway robbery case, arresting eight members of an interstate gang involved in the heist of Rs 15 lakh.
The swift operation led to the recovery of Rs 3 lakh in cash and the seizure of four vehicles used during the commission of the crime.According to Tirupati additional SP Additional (Admin) Arla Srinivasulu, the robbery took place on June 15, 2026, near the Deep Punjabi Dhaba near Anjimedu bus stop on the Srikalahasti–Tirupati National Highway (NH-71).The complainant, Ravindra Reddy, also known as Venu, was traveling with Rs 15 lakh in cash when the gang intercepted his vehicle according to a pre-planned conspiracy.
The accused threatened him at knifepoint, snatched the cash, and forcibly pushed another occupant, Babu Reddy, out of their Innova car before fleeing the scene.Following the incident, Yerpedu police registered a case and launched a comprehensive investigation under the direct orders of Tirupati SP L Subbarayudu.
Acting on specific information, the special team constituted to investigate the case, conducted a targeted vehicular check near Yerpedu mandal, leading to the arrest of eight accused.Those arrested by the police were identified as Balasala Damodaram, Pasala Venkataramana, Syed Roshan, Maddipatla Gunasekhar and A Anji from Chittoor and Tirupati districts; Nasina Srinivasulu from Nellore; and Muniyappa Venkatachalapathy and Narayanaswamy from the Kolar district of Karnataka.Police revealed that several of these individuals have prior criminal records involving fraud, theft, and robbery.
