TDP alleges ED probe uncovers major liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe exposed large-scale irregularities in transportation of liquor during the YSRCP regime.The TDP national spokesperson, Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar, said “The ED probe based on SIT findings has exposed an organised network, with evidence pointing to the role of Raj Kasireddy and Karumuri Sunil Kumar.” He added that Raj Kasireddy, former IT adviser, and Karumuri Sunil Kumar, son of former minister Karumuri Nageswara Rao, were at the centre of the case.He said, “The ED has already attached assets worth ₹441.63 crore, including cash and valuables, indicating the scale of the alleged irregularities.”Vijay Kumar alleged that transport contracts were centralised and awarded to select entities. “Transportation tariffs were raised from ₹13 per km to ₹35, and the syndicate collected an alleged premium of ₹22 per case,” he said, adding, “These changes led to losses of over ₹400 crore to the state exchequer.”He further alleged, “Despite no logistics experience, certain individuals secured contracts and received RTGS transfers of about ₹15 crore into family accounts from subcontractors.”On fund flows, he said, “The proceeds were routed through shell companies to Dubai and African countries and later brought back through hawala channels.” He added, “Even encrypted platforms were used, but digital forensics recovered transaction data and logs.”The TDP leader also questioned the liquor policy. “A cash-only system was enforced in retail outlets when digital payments were widely in use, raising questions about transparency,” he said.
