Stepfather slits 3-year-old son’s throat in Faridabad; accused held

FARIDABAD: A 23-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly killing his three-year-old stepson by slitting his throat with a knife.The incident occurred on Sunday morning at the child’s maternal grandparents’ house in Shiv Durga Vihar, Faridabad, news agency PTI reported.The accused has been identified as Sushant, who married the child’s mother, Sudha, a year ago.The boy, Aditya, from Sudha’s first marriage, had been living with his grandparents.

Police said Sushant resented the child and frequently quarrelled with his wife over her visits to her mother’s house to meet him.Sushant and Sudha, who live in SGM Nagar, visited the grandparents’ house on Sunday. “On the morning of Sunday, seizing an opportunity, he murdered the child by slitting his throat with a knife.

We are questioning the accused,” a senior police officer said.The child was found around 11am lying on a bed with a deep throat injury and blood stains around him, police said.Teams from Surajkund police station, the crime branch, and forensic experts rushed to the spot and began the investigation, PTI reported.The body was sent for post-mortem examination.

An FIR was registered at Surajkund police station based on a complaint by the victim’s grandfather, Shriram.“Making a breakthrough in the case, the crime branch, Sector 16 team arrested the accused stepfather, Sushant, today.
