Sol Campbell’s bizarre World Cup question on television baffles fans

Sol Campbell left World Cup fans scratching their heads during a television appearance.

In 2018, the former centre-back went viral after he said France would win out of a knockout game between Belgium and Brazil.

Appearing on Sky Sports with presenter Tom White on Monday (22 June), White and Campbell discussed a potential route for England to make it to this year’s final.

Pointing to a potential fixture with Mexico in the final 16, Campbell asked: “Is that away?” White appeared to look momentarily confused before confirming that the match would indeed be away.

Whilst some fans laughed off the interaction as another “Sol Campbell-ism”, others sided with Campbell. “Fair question, playing Mexico in Mexico City is very different from playing them in the States,” one user wrote.
