    Chennai: The Singappen Special Force (SSF), launched by chief minister C Joseph Vijay on June 9 to improve the safety of women and children in Tamil Nadu, held its first consultative meeting with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Chennai on Friday.At the meeting chaired by the inspector-general of police, SSF, K Bhavaneeswari, representatives from 38 NGOs took part.

    The meeting aimed to strengthen coordination between the SSF and NGOs and gather suggestions to improve safety measures for women and children across the state.During the discussion, NGO representatives shared their experiences and recommendations on awareness programmes, victim support services, preventive interventions and community outreach activities.Bhavaneeswari stressed the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and NGOs, highlighting the need for continuous information sharing and community participation.
