Vijayawada: The investigation into the disappearance of rowdy sheeter Gade Sai Krishna has taken a dramatic turn, with the special investigation team (SIT) informing the court that preliminary findings point to a suspected custodial death.
The revelations, contained in the remand report submitted before a local court, have intensified scrutiny over the conduct of police personnel attached to Krishna Lanka police station.According to the preliminary SIT report, Sai Krishna was apprehended at Markapuram on May 6 in connection with pending non-bailable warrants and brought to Vijayawada.
Investigators allege that after he was handed over to Krishna Lanka police, he was kept in illegal custody and never produced before a magistrate as required by law.
The report further states that Sai Krishna sustained severe injuries while in custody and may have died as a result. One of the most serious allegations in the report concerns the disappearance of CCTV footage.
The SIT report stated that surveillance recordings from Krishna Lanka police station between May 1 and June 1 were unavailable and may have been “deliberately deleted”.
Sai Krishna’s mother reportedly told the investigators that she saw her son in an unconscious condition at the police station during the relevant period. The SIT report further states that Sai Krishna handed over his mobile phone to then circle inspector (now suspended and in judicial custody) Nagaraju after being brought to the police station.
However, Nagaraju failed to produce him before a court and subsequently provided misleading information. The report further raises suspicion that attempts may have been made to conceal evidence by disposing of the body.
The victim’s remains have not yet been traced, and investigators are examining whether the body was buried, destroyed, or concealed.Meanwhile, Nagaraju was subjected to prolonged questioning by SIT officials on Wednesday, who confronted him with evidence suggesting that Sai Krishna was brought to the police station and remained in custody.
Investigators sought answers on why he was not presented before a magistrate, why CCTV footage from the police station went missing, and what transpired during his detention.Sources said Nagaraju failed to provide satisfactory responses to several critical questions, prompting investigators to seek further custodial inquiry.
A local court on Wednesday remanded the suspended officer to 14 days of judicial custody till July 8, following which he was shifted to the central prison at Rajahmundry. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Vijayawada | Silver Rate in Vijayawada | Bank Holidays in Vijayawada | Public Holidays in Vijayawada | Petrol Price in Vijayawada | Diesel Price in Vijayawada | CNG Price in Vijayawada | LPG Price in VijayawadaStay updated with the latest Vijayawada news.
