MUMBAI: Police have registered an FIR after a make-up artist, part of Bollywood producer Rhea Kapoor’s team, complained that rented gold jewellery that she was carrying from India to the US for Kapoor to wear at the Met Gala was stolen en route. MUMBAI: Police have registered an FIR after a make-up artist, part of Bollywood producer Rhea Kapoor’s team, complained that rented gold jewellery that she was carrying from India to the US for Kapoor to wear at the Met Gala was stolen en route.
The gold jewellery was worth Rs 1.3 crore, police said.The complainant said to the police that she and the rest of the team were to accompany Kapoor for the event scheduled to be held on April 29.
Two pairs of gold earrings were rented from jewellers in India for Kapoor.
One of the earrings had emeralds and diamonds set in them and was worth Rs 66 lakh.
The other pair had Zambian emeralds set in them and was worth Rs 69 lakh.
The team landed in New York City on April 28 and checked into a hotel.
The complainant then carried the box to hand it over to a team member.
