    Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa has approached the Supreme Court in the Renukaswamy abduction and murder case.

    Latest reports suggest that the actor has requested the court to allow him to file a fresh bail plea before completing one year in jail.As per India Today, the actor cited the trial is moving very slowly and fresh developments should allow him to seek bail earlier.Earlier, on May 15, the Supreme Court rejected his bail plea.

    At that time, the court allowed him to approach it again after one year if the trial did not make enough progress.Actor wants clarity from the courtIn the latest application, Darshan has seeked clarification from the Supreme Court that its earlier order should not stop him from filing a fresh bail plea before one year.

    He said he should be allowed to seek bail if the trial continues to move slowly.

    He also said he should get the chance to approach the court if he remains in jail for a long time, faces health problems, or if any other important circumstances arise.Darshan also said he has fully cooperated with the investigation and court proceedings.

    According to him, he has not done anything to delay the trial.The application also refers to the Supreme Court's May 15 order.

    At that time, the bench refused to grant bail and directed the trial court to conduct day-to-day hearings.

    The judges also asked the trial court to first examine 60 important witnesses because of concerns over the slow progress of the case.Darshan stated that it may stop him from filing a fresh bail plea even if the trial is delayed further.

    He also stated that the court's earlier decision was meant to be an additional safeguard and not the only option available to him.Darshan has been in custody since August 2025 after the Supreme Court cancelled the bail granted to him and the other accused.

    Earlier, he had pointed out that the prosecution plans to examine around 262 witnesses and only a few have been examined so far.

    He said the trial could take several years to finish.

    He also said his long stay in jail has affected his career, livelihood and family.About the caseFor the unversed, the actor was arrested on June 11, 2024, in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy from Chitradurga.
