Protesters sentenced to decades in prison over ‘Antifa’ shooting at ICE facility

A U.S. Marine, Benjamin Song, was sentenced to 100 years in federal prison for shooting and wounding a police officer outside an immigration detention center in Texas.

Seven other demonstrators received prison terms ranging from 30 to 70 years during sentencing hearings, with more protesters facing similar sentences next week.

The charges stem from a July 4, 2025, demonstration at the Prairieland ICE Detention Center, where prosecutors accused the group of launching a premeditated terror attack.

U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor stated the sentences are meant to "send a message to anyone who shares a similar ideology," while critics call the case a politically loaded test case against "Antifa"-linked individuals.

Critics fear these prosecutions serve as a "template" for targeting antifascist protesters and silencing political dissent, following a wider Justice Department investigation into the movement.
