Pala native tests negative for Ebola

Kottayam: It has been confirmed that the Pala native who was admitted to Govt Medical College Hospital (MCH), Kottayam, does not have Ebola virus infection.

With this, the concern that persisted for three days has been alleviated.

The woman, who was admitted to the MCH on Wednesday, was discharged from the hospital. She was working in South Sudan in Africa, and after reaching home and contracting fever, she sought treatment at a private hospital in Pala.

Following intervention of health department authorities, she was shifted to MCH.

Since there is no facility in Kerala for diagnosing Ebola, her secretion sample was sent to National Lab in Pune.

She was placed under observation at MCH.

She had fever and vomiting when admitted to the hospital.

There was also an instruction that those arriving from Africa, where Ebola has been reported, should inform health department if they have fever or other symptoms.

She travelled from South Sudan to Uganda and from there reached Kochi by flight.

For the continued treatment of the patient, a medical board was formed under the leadership of the head of communicable diseases department. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Kochi | Silver Rate in Kochi | Bank Holidays in Kochi | Public Holidays in KochiStay updated with the latest Kochi news.
