    OC waiver for homes: Govt gives 15-day window for power connection

    Hubballi: State govt has granted a one-time exemption from obtaining an occupancy certificate (OC) for certain residential buildings completed on or before May 31, 2026.The exemption applies to buildings that have applied for permanent electricity connections, received temporary connections, or were completed without any electricity connection.In a press note, Hescom said the exemption covers G+3-storey residential buildings or stilt parking plus four floors constructed on plots measuring up to 2,400 sq ft, with an additional variation limit of 20%.

    The buildings must have been completed on or before May 31 in Dharwad, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Uttara Kannada, Gadag and Haveri districts under Hescom jurisdiction.The measure allows eligible applicants to apply for permanent electricity connections within 15 days from the date of issuance of the order.

    It applies to cases where applications for permanent connections were submitted by May 31, 2026, buildings were constructed after obtaining temporary connections, or buildings were completed without any electricity connection.The order also exempts houses inhabited by farmers in rural areas, farmhouses, structures used for storing agricultural equipment, cattle sheds and silkworm-rearing houses from obtaining an OC for electricity connections.Stay updated with the latest Hubballi news.
