But what if they have been washed in a muddy pond formed on the corner of a road, possibly through a night of rain?In a video going viral online, a man can be seen washing bundles of green vegetables including spinach in a muddy, stagnant pond.
The man took bundles of leafy vegetables before dipping and rinsing them in murky water that appeared green.
The footage was allegedly recorded near Noida, Uttar Pradesh and has reignited discussions on food hygiene and safety.As the video was being recorded, the person behind the camera expressed concern over the condition of the water being used to clean the produce.
There was also a buffalo standing near the pond.“Look Noida residents, these are your protein-rich vegetables.
Look how your vegetables are being washed in such clean water,” the man recording the incident was heard saying.
Meanwhile, the person washing the vegetables appeared unfazed by the recording and even posed for the camera.Social media shockedWhile the exact circumstances of the video remain unclear, it is also unknown if the vegetables were intended to be sold in local markets or were being cleaned for other purposes.
The post claimed the incident took place “Noida parathla bridge ke pass (Near Noida parathla bridge).” It was uploaded on Instagram by the account ‘ramu__priyanka_mishra3138’ and has attracted more than 10,000 views along with hundreds of reactions."Sabji ke sath insaan bhi saaf ho jyenge," wrote a user."Sab kuch organic hai.." quipped another."The police need to identify the man and take strict action against him," commented another.“Are those vegetables really for selling? Are they for animals by any chance?
