    Kolkata: Encroachment on public passages inside market complexes will not be tolerated, state urban development and municipal affairs minister Agnimitra Paul said on Tuesday after inspecting VIP Market in Kankurgachhi.The visit was part of an ongoing cleanliness drive, during which Paul expressed dissatisfaction over sanitation and maintenance.

    She said floors required immediate repair and described the condition of toilets and electric lines as poor, adding that corrective measures would be taken.Paul objected to shops occupying common passages. “Such obstruction will not be tolerated.

    Fines will be imposed if shop fronts remain littered,” she said.
