Indore: The southwest monsoon entered parts of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, arriving nine days later than its normal onset date and bringing much-awaited relief from prolonged heat and humidity across large parts of the state.According to Arun Sharma, a scientist at the India Meteorological Department (IMD),Bhopal, the monsoon advanced into the state through Balaghat, Chhindwara, Betul, Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur and Indore districts.“Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the monsoon, as it is expected to cover the remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh within the next three to four days,” Sharma said. With the monsoon’s arrival, rainfall activity intensified across several regions.

Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain, Raisen, Neemuch, Barwani, Khargone, Harda and Dindori were among the districts that recorded rainfall on Wednesday.

In Indore, widespread showers began around 4.30 pm, providing significant relief from heat and humidity.

A total of 20 mm rainfall was recorded in parts of eastern Indore as recorded by the weather observatory at Agriculture College.

Bhopal witnessed heavy rain in several localities, while drizzle and cool winds made the weather pleasant in Ujjain after a humid day.Raisen received heavy rainfall during the evening, causing waterlogging in several areas and affecting traffic movement.

Neemuch district reported strong showers in Manasa, Rampura, Kukdeshwar and Jannod, while Barwani experienced rain accompanied by strong winds and thunder.

In Khargone, rainfall was recorded in Jhirnya, Pipaljhopa and Bhikangaon, where showers boosted farmers’ hopes for the kharif season. The Met department issued an alert for thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and rainfall for 42 districts over the next 24 hours.Storms and rain lashed 39 districts across Madhya Pradesh over the past 24 hours, reflecting the growing influence of the advancing southwest monsoon.

According to the IMD, strong winds accompanied by rainfall were reported from districts including Indore, Dhar, Khargone, Khandwa, Barwani, Burhanpur, Ujjain, Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Satna and Anuppur.

Hailstorm activity was also recorded in parts of Balaghat district, while several areas experienced thunderstorms and gusty winds, leading to a sharp drop in temperatures and providing relief from the prevailing heat and humidity. The delayed arrival of the monsoon reflected in the state’s seasonal rainfall figures, as between June 1 and June 24, the rain activity in MP was 50 per cent below the Long Period Average (LPA).

The deficit was particularly severe in eastern Madhya Pradesh, which received 70 per cent less rainfall than normal during the period.

Western Madhya Pradesh recorded a 32 per cent rainfall deficit.

Weather officials expect the shortfall to narrow significantly as monsoon activity strengthens across the state over the coming days. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Indore | Silver Rate in Indore | Bank Holidays in Indore | Public Holidays in Indore | Petrol Price in Indore | Diesel Price in Indore | CNG Price in Indore | LPG Price in IndoreStay updated with the latest Indore news.
