Nashik: In a push to ensure smoother vehicular movement, the civic body on Saturday carried out an extensive anti-encroachment drive in the congested Sarda circle area, demolishing illegal roadside eateries, stalls and shop extensions that had long been choking traffic. The drive commenced early on Saturday morning with a massive deployment of nearly 150 Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) employees, six bulldozers, and multiple cranes.

NMC teams razed unauthorised sheds, hotel extensions, concrete platforms and verandas along key stretches, including the road from Sarda circle to Wakdi Barav. The operation began early in the morning and continued through the day under tight police bandobast to prevent any law and order issues. The civic body had earlier issued notices to shop and restaurant owners, directing them to voluntarily remove illegal structures.

However, with encroachments continuing to disrupt traffic flow, the civic officials proceeded with demolition under the guidance of municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri and the anti-encroachment department. The Sarda circle area, a densely populated commercial hub connected to the Mumbai-Agra highway, has been facing persistent congestion due to roadside parking and illegal extensions narrowing carriage space.

The drive aimed at removing these bottlenecks and improving road usability for commuters.Residents and daily passengers welcomed the action, noting that the encroachments had severely hampered movement in the area.NMC officials said the crackdown is part of a broader effort to widen roads across the city ahead of the upcoming Kumbh Mela, adding that such encroachments were directly obstructing both traffic flow and ongoing infrastructure work. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Nashik | Silver Rate in Nashik | Bank Holidays in Nashik | Public Holidays in Nashik | Petrol Price in Nashik | Diesel Price in Nashik | CNG Price in Nashik | LPG Price in NashikStay updated with the latest Nashik news.
