Murder arrest after teenage girl is found dead in south Wales

The body of a 14-year-old girl, identified as Lilly, was discovered in the Duffryn Park area of Blaina, south Wales, on Monday evening.

Lilly had been reported missing after she was last seen in High Street, Blaina, at approximately 6.50pm on Saturday, 20 June.

A 14-year-old boy from the Blaenau Gwent area has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

Gwent Police have referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in line with normal procedures.

Police are continuing their inquiries and have urged the public not to speculate online, while community leaders and residents have expressed profound sadness.
