MUMBAI: Mumbai saw light rainfall across different parts of the city on Sunday morning.Between 6am and 7am, rain recorded in Ghatkopar was 24 mm, Chembur 20 mm, Mankhurd 16 mm, Worli 25 mm.
Lower Parel recorded 21 mm.Over the past week, as the monsoon remained stalled, Mumbai continued to experience hot and humid weather, with temperatures remaining significantly above normal. The Sunday morning light rains brought down the minimum temperatures with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Colaba and Santacruz observatory recording 25.8 deg C and 26.7 deg C.Just a day ago on Saturday morning minimum temperatures recorded by the IMD Colaba and Santacruz observatory was 28.6 deg C respectively.Akshay Sunil, VP, weather expert at Experiqs Pvt.
Ltd, said, "Mumbai is likely to see a gradual increase in rainfall from June 22, with more frequent and organised spells expected between June 23-26.
Forecasts indicate that strengthening low-level westerly winds and favourable mid-level circulation could improve moisture transport along the west coast.""The prolonged weak phase will finally begin to ease.
However, the official onset of the southwest monsoon over Mumbai will depend on whether the required rainfall and wind conditions are sustained, with clearer conditions for its advance expected during the latter half of the week," he added.Mumbai monsoon had already missed its normal onset data of June 11.Rajesh Kapadia, of Vagaries of Weather a weather blog, said, “The monsoon lost momentum due to an unfavourable combination of atmospheric and oceanic factors.
A developing El Niño, suppressed Madden-Julian Oscillation(MJP), dry air intrusion over the subcontinent, a weak Somali Jet and the absence of low-pressure systems over the Bay of Bengal have together stalled widespread rainfall.”You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Mumbai | Silver Rate in Mumbai | Bank Holidays in Mumbai | Public Holidays in Mumbai | Mumbai AQI | Weather in Mumbai | Petrol Price in Mumbai | Diesel Price in Mumbai | CNG Price in Mumbai | LPG Price in MumbaiStay updated with the latest Mumbai news.
