BENGALURU: Software engineer M Shwetha was arrested by Bengaluru police from a hotel room in Puducherry on Wednesday, two days after she and her live-in partner allegedly murdered her parents and sister at the couple’s Seegehalli apartment in east Bengaluru. However, the hunt is still on for Swetha’s partner J Kenneth.
The duo had escaped from their flat after stabbing to death Swetha’s father Somasundar, mother Muthulakshmi and sister Supriya.Preliminary inquiry revealed Shwetha detested her family, particularly her mother who disapproved of her live-in relationship and the fact that she had run up more than Rs 30 lakh in bank loans.Shwetha said it was primarily her mother’s attitude that forced her to leave home and move in with Kenneth.“My mother never gave us the freedom that we deserved.
Right from high school days till the end of engineering studies, I lived the life of a prisoner.
My friends and classmates would often tease me and also sympathise with me over my condition.
I lived like an orphan.
This made me hate my mother,” she told the cops.Woman says she alone killed kin, but cops disagreeSharing details of Monday night’s triple murder, Shwetha admitted to police she was the one who attacked her parents and sister with a knife while Kenneth watched helplessly.
However, refuting her version of the story, investigating officers said “multiple stab injuries on the victims indicate that more than one person was involved in the attack”.Following the stabbing spree, as a profusely bleeding Somasundar ran out of the ground-floor flat to the staircase, Kenneth and Shweta locked the main door from inside, rushed to the balcony and jumped out to the adjacent building, police said.
CCTV footage captured the duo calmly walking out.“They flagged down an autorickshaw and reached apaying guest accommodation near Vibhutipur in HAL where Kenneth used to stay earlier.
His sportsbike was parked there.
They roamed around HAL and Marathahalli for a while on that bike before reaching Sarjapur, where they took a coffee break,” a senior police officer said.Once they reached Tiruvannamalai, about 220km from Bengaluru, by Tuesday afternoon, Kenneth rode off to an ‘unknown destination’ while Shwetha took a bus and reached Puducherry by night.
There, she checked into the hotel from where she was eventually arrested,” the police officer added. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Bengaluru | Silver Rate in Bengaluru | Bank Holidays in Bengaluru | Public Holidays in Bengaluru | Bengaluru AQI | Weather in Bengaluru | Petrol Price in Bengaluru | Diesel Price in Bengaluru | CNG Price in Bengaluru | LPG Price in BengaluruStay updated with the latest Bengaluru news.
