Comedian Leslie Jones reflected on her "bittersweet" five-year tenure on Saturday Night Live, which lasted from 2014 to 2019.

Jones, who was initially hired as a writer before becoming a cast member, expressed frustration over being repeatedly typecast as an "angry Black female character."

She stated that writers consistently portrayed her as angry, fighting, or in love with a white man, despite her requests for them to stop.

Jones acknowledged loving her time on the show but found the mental toll of the typecasting challenging, noting that her requests were ignored because the portrayals were deemed "successful."

During her time on SNL, Jones received three Emmy nominations and described the show as a valuable "foundation" for comedians, despite its inherent "machine"-like nature.
