King Charles is “greatly saddened” by a train crash near Bedford that killed a driver and seriously injured dozens of people.
“His thoughts and sympathies are with the family of the deceased and with all those injured or affected by such a tragic incident,” a spokesperson said on Saturday.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer described the crash, between two East Midlands Railway trains, as "hugely concerning".
A total of 33 people were taken to hospital with serious injuries, and a further 56 sustained minor injuries, according to British Transport Police.
Passengers described being "flung" around the carriage in the crash and witnessing people with "life-threatening, major injuries" and "snapped legs".
