Chikkamagaluru: Kadur police have booked a 28-year-old man for allegedly recording private videos of a woman without her consent and threatening to circulate them after she refused to marry him.

The complainant is a 29-year-old quality engineer working at a private firm in Bengaluru.According to the FIR, the accused, Kiran, a resident of a village in Kadur taluk, is the brother of the complainant’s friend, who also hails from the same taluk.

The complainant and her friend had rented a house together in Sunkadakatte in Bengaluru.

Kiran, who has known the complainant for four years, would frequently visit the house to meet his sister.“In June and July 2025, Kiran came to our house, saying he had no work in the village, and stayed with us for two months.

He initially addressed me as his sister, but later started speaking too casually.

When I objected, he misbehaved,” the woman told police. She rejected his marriage proposal, stating that her parents were already looking for a suitable match. “I told him I would inform his sister if he continued to misbehave.

That is when he began threatening me with dire consequences,” she said.

According to the complaint, Kiran told her he had secretly recorded her private moments on his phone during his stay and threatened to circulate them among her family and friends. The woman later vacated the house and moved elsewhere.

However, Kiran allegedly continued calling her and her relatives, repeating the threats.

Meanwhile, the complainant decided to marry a youth from Tumakuru.

After convincing her parents, their wedding was fixed for June 19.Kiran learnt of the engagement and, on June 2, confronted her at the Kadur KSRTC bus stand when she was about to board a bus to Bengaluru. “Kiran threatened to send my videos and photos to my fiancé and his family if I went ahead with the marriage.

When I told him to do whatever he wanted, he left, saying he would send them,” she said. After she reached Bengaluru, her fiancé showed her the photos and videos allegedly sent to his phone by Kiran.

Fearing that he might upload the content on social media, the woman informed her parents and lodged a complaint on June 23.Kadur police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused, according to SP Jitendra Kumar Dayama. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Mysuru | Silver Rate in Mysuru | Bank Holidays in Mysuru | Public Holidays in MysuruStay updated with the latest Mysuru news.
