Jon Snow admits ‘whatever happens, happens’ after Alzheimer’s diagnosis

Veteran news presenter Jon Snow, aged 78, has publicly shared his Alzheimer's diagnosis, revealing he has been living with the neurological condition since 2023 after initially hesitating to seek medical advice.

Snow expressed that he is “not afraid of death” and feels little fear regarding his diagnosis, stating, “whatever happens, happens,” and noting his active lifestyle.

His health journey is the subject of a new Channel 4 documentary, Jon Snow: A Last Big Story, which also covers his retirement from newsreading.

Snow's wife, epidemiologist Precious Lunga, observed that he began exhibiting symptoms after a period of depression following his retirement from Channel 4 News in 2021.

The Alzheimer's Society commended Snow's decision to go public, emphasising the crucial role of early diagnosis in accessing support, while Snow himself was 'truly bowled over' by public support and believes knowing his diagnosis is beneficial.
