Jeremy Clarkson grappled with going public about his cancer diagnosis and contemplated whether he should “disappear” from Clarkson’s Farm while undergoing treatment.
The 66-year-old TV personality revealed he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer in the final episodes of the Prime Video show’s fifth season.
In a new interview, he said the “Clarkson mentality” was not to tell anybody: “You are not allowed to be ill, and if you are ill, you certainly don’t own up to it. You just go to work as usual.”
Clarkson said he had to “wrestle” with the decision before realising he couldn’t disappear from the show, because people would wonder where he was.
Clarkson’s Farm follows the former Top Gear host as he redevelops a 100-acre farm, Diddly Squat, in the Cotswolds.
