India is set to resume exports of railway passenger coaches to Bangladesh, with the first shipment expected in July under a ₹915 crore contract executed by RITES. The delivery marks the first such export since the political upheaval in Bangladesh that led to the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Under the agreement, India will supply 200 broad-gauge passenger coaches to Bangladesh Railway. The project, funded by the European Investment Bank, also includes design support, spare parts, training and commissioning services. Officials say the project, which had slowed following Bangladesh's political transition, is now progressing as planned, underscoring the continued strength of India-Bangladesh infrastructure cooperation.
