A red warning for extreme heat has been issued across parts of England and Wales for Wednesday and Thursday.
Temperatures are forecast to exceed 37C, potentially reaching 38C or 40C in some areas, with the peak expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Met Office predicts the heatwave will begin to ease by Friday, with cooler temperatures expected over the weekend.
Overnight temperatures are not expected to drop below 20C in urban areas, leading to 'tropical nights'.
The UK Health Security Agency has issued heat health alerts, advising the public to stay hydrated, avoid the sun during peak hours, and check on vulnerable individuals.
