Headquarters of AP Maritime Board shifted to Amaravati from Kakinada

Vijayawada: The state govt has declared Amaravati as the headquarters of the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB) and approved the shifting of its head office from Kakinada.

The decision follows a proposal from the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Maritime Board, who cited administrative convenience and the need for closer coordination with secretariat departments and other heads of departments located in Amaravati.The govt amended its earlier decision taken during the YSRCP regime, designating Visakhapatnam as the headquarters of APMB, and notified Amaravati as the new headquarters under the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board Act.In a related decision, the govt has permitted the shifting of the office of the CEO and the Directorate of State Ports (head of department) from Kakinada to Amaravati along with staff, records, assets, and related infrastructure.

The order also directs the CEO to initiate steps for the transition of administrative and financial systems to Amaravati.

Salaries and expenditure of staff will be drawn through the pay and accounts office at Mangalagiri/Vijayawada, replacing the Kakinada district treasury.Further, the Andhra Pradesh Centre for Financial Systems and Services has been asked to map audit and accounting functions of the Directorate of Ports to the pay and accounts office with immediate effect.
