Ranchi: Police on Wednesday arrested four persons, including a woman, in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 28-year-old woman whose body was recovered on Sunday.According to police, the victim and the woman accused had been involved in a prolonged dispute over the latter’s alleged extramarital relationship with the victim’s husband.
Police said the accused woman, allegedly upset over the victim’s opposition to the relationship, conspired with her brother and two associates to abduct the victim on Friday.Investigators alleged that the victim was sexually assaulted multiple times before being murdered on Saturday night.
The accused reportedly attacked her repeatedly with a heavy object, believed to be a stone.
The body bore multiple injuries, including cut marks on the face and neck.
Police said the murder was carried out at the same location where the body was later found.The accused allegedly used a four-wheeler, which had been looted in Gumla district in April, to carry out the abduction.
Police said all three male accused have criminal antecedents in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, while the woman accused has no known criminal record.Stay updated with the latest Ranchi news.
