Former England and Liverpool footballer John Barnes, 62, revealed he had his prostate removed following a cancer diagnosis.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Barnes stated he never intended to make his health condition public.
His diagnosis became public during a World Cup media day when he mistakenly thought interviewers were asking about his cancer, not that of Kenny Dalglish and Kevin Keegan.
Barnes disclosed that he had been living with the condition for about four years before the operation.
He confirmed that he is now 'all clear' and 'everything is fine' after the successful removal of his prostate.
