Berhampur: Family members of a migrant worker from Jamudiha village in Gajapati district’s Mohana block, who died at his workplace in South Goa two days ago, have appealed to the district administration and MP Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy to make arrangements to bring his body back to his village for the last rites.The deceased, Ganesh Dalabehera, 32, was working as a labourer in a private construction company in Goa for the last three months.
He allegedly fell from a three-storied building on Monday accidentally.
He was rushed to the nearby hospital by other Odia labourers, who were staying in the building.During treatment, he died in the hospital.
The autopsy is likely to take place on Thursday.
One of his relatives informed his family members about the incident over phone. “We were very shocked after hearing about his death.
We requested the govt to bring his body to the village for his last rites,” said Taranga Dalabehera, his father.The deceased leaves behind his wife and an 11-month-old daughter.
He was the only earning person of his family.
District labour officer (in-charge), Gajapati, Amit Nayak said they conducted an inquiry into his death by recording the statements of his family members on Wednesday. “We will submit the inquiry report to the state’s labour commissioner soon through the district collector,” he said.Panigrahy has also written to CM Mohan Charan Majhi requesting him to bring the worker’s body to the village. “The deceased’s family is very poor.
They cannot afford to bring the body back.
