    Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari met the family members of deceased student activist Anis Khan and minor girl Tamanna Khatun at the state Assembly on Tuesday.The meeting took place on the first death anniversary of Tamanna.

    Domkal CPM MLA Mostafizur Rahman and party leader Minakshi Mukherjee accompanied the victims’ families to the venue.During the interaction, CM Adhikari listened to the grievances of the families regarding the lack of progress in police investigations under the previous Trinamool Congress regime.

    Adhikari reportedly called up the director general of police from the Assembly and instructed the top official to meet the family members and initiate swift action.

    He assured the delegation that the govt will take steps to conclude the investigations.The family later met senior police officers from the Bengal Police and CID, where they were briefed on the exact grievance areas.

    Sources said a detailed report has been sought from the investigating officer on the probe thus far.Tamanna, a nine-year-old girl from Molandi village in Nadia district, died in a bomb attack on June 23, 2025, the day of the Kaliganj by-election results.

    Social worker Anis Khan died in Feb 2022 in Amta, Howrah, under mysterious circumstances after a fall from the roof of his house.“The investigation into my daughter’s murder did not move forward during the previous govt,” Tamanna’s mother, Sabina Yasmin, said. “The current CM gave an assurance that the culprits will face punishment.” Anis Khan’s father expressed similar satisfaction and hoped for justice to finally prevail.CPM Uttarpara candidate Mukherjee stated that numerous citizens and political workers faced violence from criminals during the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress.
