A climate event in London, focused on extreme heat, was cancelled due to the city experiencing extreme heat itself.
The event, titled 'Extreme Heat: Improving governance and strengthening action around the world', was due to take place at the London School of Economics.
Cancellation occurred after the Met Office issued a rare red weather warning for Greater London, with temperatures forecast to reach up to 40C.
Organisers cited the lack of cooling mechanisms at the venue and the risk to attendees' wellbeing as reasons for the cancellation.
Experts emphasised that the incident underscores the urgent need to address climate change and learn from global experiences.
