    Dehradun: Two labourers were killed and four others injured after a bus ran over six labourers sitting on a footpath in Dehradun’s Patelnagar area on Tuesday morning when the driver allegedly suffered a stroke, police said.

    Officers said the bus was travelling from ISBT towards Rajpur when the driver lost control near Lalpur bridge. “Preliminary findings suggest the driver, Arjun, 28, a resident of Jakhan in Dehradun, suddenly fell ill while driving.

    He is also undergoing treatment,” Dehradun circle officer (Sadar) Ankit Kandari said.

    He added that one of the injured, Ahad, a resident of Patelnagar, died during treatment.

    The others, residents of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, were undergoing treatment.

    The bus was carrying three people, including the driver, and the other occupants were not injured.An eyewitness, Jitendra Kumar, told TOI that the labourers were sitting in the shade when the accident occurred around 11am. "We were also waiting for work there.

    We immediately called 108 and 112, but when help took time to arrive, we started taking the injured to hospital in autos and e-rickshaws," he said.Chief medical officer Dr Manoj Sharma confirmed that two of the five labourers taken to Indresh Hospital died during treatment.

    Dr Gaurav Raturi, medical superintendent of Indresh Hospital, said, "Treatment of the others is underway.

    Every effort is being made to provide them with the best care."Doctors at Govt Doon Medical College and Hospital said one injured person admitted there was out of danger. "He had injuries on several parts of the body but did not suffer any fractures or major internal bleeding.
