England head coach Brendon McCullum has dismissed claims of a strained relationship with captain Ben Stokes, stating they are "on the same page" after a recent conversation.
Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson have rejoined the England squad for training at Trent Bridge ahead of the deciding Test against New Zealand, ending a two-week absence from the team.
Their temporary removal followed an incident at a London nightclub in the early hours of 8 June, which subsequently led to two separate investigations.
Both players received a written warning from the England and Wales Cricket Board for breaching "specific contractual obligations" but were largely cleared of more serious allegations, with insufficient evidence found against them.
McCullum, who had previously refrained from publicly supporting Stokes during the investigation, confirmed their bond remains strong, describing Stokes as a "good friend" and expressing enthusiasm for his return to the team.
