Patna: The BJP will observe June 25 as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’ (Constitution Murder Day) across Bihar to mark the anniversary of the Emergency imposed by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975.
As part of the observance, the party will organise programmes at 90,000 booths across the state.
Union minister J P Nadda will honour 450 ‘JP fighters’ (activists of the JP movement) and ‘Democracy warriors’ at Gyan Bhavan in Patna on the occasion.Addressing a joint press conference at the BJP state office, party state vice-presidents and former MLAs Haribhushan Thakur Bachol and Pawan Jaiswal alleged the then prime minister violated the fundamental rights of citizens by imposing the Emergency and attempted to suppress democratic institutions to remain in power.Pawan said district-level worker conferences would be held in all 52 organisational districts of the state from June 30 to July 6.
