'Being made a scapegoat': Father of accused Chetan Chowdhury denies son's role in Ketan Agarwal murder case

PUNE: As the investigation into the alleged murder of Pune-based real estate businessman Ketan Vishal Agarwal gathers pace, the family of co-accused Chetan Chowdhury has come out in his defence, claiming that he has been falsely implicated in the case.Ketan Agarwal died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18.

What was initially treated as an accidental death is now being investigated as a murder, with police arresting Ketan's fiancée Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chowdhury.According to news agency ANI, Chetan's father, Babulal Chowdhury, denied his son's involvement and alleged that he was being made a scapegoat."We have never seen the girl in question and know absolutely nothing about her," Babulal stated, referring to Ketan's fiancee, Siya Goyal, who has also been arrested. "In fact, I only found out her name, Siya, yesterday.

He is being falsely framed and has no involvement in this matter."According to him, Chetan had left home saying he was going for a meeting and did not disclose where he was headed or who he was meeting.Babulal further claimed that his son had maintained he was merely a witness to the incident."He clearly told us that he did not push the boy and was standing far away.

The girl was the one standing right there when the boy fell," he claimed, adding that while he does not know if Siya pushed Ketan, his son was "standing a little further back."He also alleged that the family had received mixed messages from the police regarding the case."The police have informed us that this is a minor issue and is actually a case of fraud," he asserted. "They assured us they would release the child to us within two hours."Chetan's uncle, Udayram Chowdhury, also defended him and accused the media of portraying the case from only one perspective, ANI reported."Chetan is completely innocent in this matter.

The media is hyping this up and showing a one-sided view on Instagram, but Chetan is not involved in it.

Chetan is a sportsman and a very straightforward person; there has never been a single complaint against him from anyone in the market," he stated."Our family members do not know anything about Chetan's relationship with that girl; we had absolutely no idea.

We even got a chance to meet him for a minute, and he told us, while crying, that he was being falsely implicated in this," Udayram added.

However, Pune Rural Police have maintained that evidence collected during the investigation points to a planned conspiracy involving both accused.According to investigators, suspicions raised by Ketan's family prompted a deeper probe, leading police to convert the accidental death inquiry into a murder investigation.Police suspect the alleged plot was first conceived during a visit to Lohagad Fort on May 31, when Siya Goyal and Ketan Agarwal visited the site.

Investigators claim Siya allegedly began planning the murder after noticing Ketan sitting close to the edge of the fort.Officials further allege that an initial attempt was made on June 14, when Siya reportedly tried to push Ketan from the fort.

When the attempt allegedly failed, she is said to have raised an alarm about spotting a snake and later claimed she had accidentally pushed him in the commotion.Investigators believe Siya did not want to marry Ketan and conspired with Chetan Chowdhury to eliminate him.The probe has also revealed that Siya and Chetan first met at a Diwali party last year and later grew close.

Police said they remained in regular contact over the past several months.Officials further alleged that the two met at a café before the incident, where they discussed the murder plan and identified locations on the fort from where Ketan could allegedly be pushed. Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chowdhury are currently in police custody till June 29 as the investigation continues. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Pune | Silver Rate in Pune | Bank Holidays in Pune | Public Holidays in Pune | Petrol Price in Pune | Diesel Price in Pune | CNG Price in Pune | LPG Price in PuneStay updated with the latest Pune news.
