Nashik: As many as 46,389 properties in Nashik city are under unauthorised occupancy and are being taxed with penalties, deputy chief minister and urban development minister Eknath Shinde told the state legislature on Tuesday. In a written reply to a starred question raised by MLC Prasad Lad and others during the monsoon session, Shinde said the Nashik Municipal Corporation has 6 lakh properties on record, a significant number of which are being used without mandatory building completion and occupancy certificates. He said action has been initiated against such properties under section 267(A) of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, along with provisions in the Urban Development Department’s govt resolution dated Jan 11, 2017, and a subsequent directive issued on Feb 28, 2017.
The civic body has also enforced measures under order 233 dated Feb 8, 2019.At present, all 46,389 properties identified with unauthorised occupancy have been brought under the ambit of penal property taxation, Shinde said.Apart from penalties, the civic body is levying compounding charges where buildings are found in use prior to obtaining occupancy certificates, as per the town planning department’s office order dated June 15, 2010.Elaborating on the penalty structure, Shinde said that a fine of Rs 1,500 is levied on residential units, Rs 3,000 for non-residential or commercial establishments, and Rs 30,000 for large-scale constructions such as marriage halls, theatres, and hospitals.
He added that the collected penalty amounts are deposited in the municipal treasury. The deputy chief minister clarified that occupancy certificates are issued only after violations are regularised and the prescribed penalties and compounding charges are paid. “The civic administration is taking action against unauthorised use of buildings strictly in line with the applicable laws and government directives,” he said.Officials said the crackdown is part of broader efforts to ensure compliance with building norms and improve regulation of urban development in Nashik. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Nashik | Silver Rate in Nashik | Bank Holidays in Nashik | Public Holidays in Nashik | Petrol Price in Nashik | Diesel Price in Nashik | CNG Price in Nashik | LPG Price in NashikStay updated with the latest Nashik news.
