More than 22.8 lakh candidates are appearing for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination across India today, making it one of the largest entrance examinations in the country. Authorities have implemented extensive security measures and logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the test. In Delhi, special cooling zones, enhanced security deployment and dedicated waiting areas for parents and family members have been set up outside examination centres. According to National Testing Agency data, female candidates outnumber male aspirants, with 13.3 lakh women and 9.5 lakh men taking the examination.Uttar Pradesh leads in candidate registrations, followed by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The data also highlights Rajasthan's growing prominence as a major medical coaching hub. Nearly four out of five candidates have opted to take the examination in English, reflecting a significant preference for the language among aspirants nationwide.
